I was lucky enough to grow up in a family where sewing was a common hobby which was transmitted to me early on. I feel like it is my turn now to teach this craft to others and share my knowledge and savoir-faire on fashion and garments in general.

How does it work ?

Just send me an e-mail stating your availabilities (according to my schedule mentioned below) to sort out an appointment with me.

• Some lessons last less than 3 hours in total and are meant to teach the basics of using a sewing machine for beginners, folks who never sew/have very little experience but also for folks with more knowledge but who wish to just have fun with a simple and satisfying project. For now, the “beginner’s workshop” allows you to make a pouch with drawstrings (great for bulk shopping) and a scrunchie (duration : 2h-2h30). There will soon be another module for making a tote bag.

• Other lessons require several hours and are meant for slightly more complicated projects. They are therefore directed towards folks who already have some experience with the sewing machine and/or who have already followed one of the beginner’s modules. For now, you can create a reversible bucket hat (duration : 3h30 that can be spread on different days) or a shirred top (duration : 2h30).

• You can also take on a personal project with me : for example, you bring your own pattern or pick one from my stash and I guide you through its making. This workshop can take many shapes so if your project is something different than just making something out of a pattern, don’t hesitate to write me about it and I’ll let you know if I can help you with it. It is very important that you send me an e-mail (studio@sadvalentine.com) beforehand so that we can assess your level, the difficulty of your project and the kind of fabric you picked, so that the project doesn’t become frustrating for you ! This lesson can take more than 6 hours, spread on several weeks, depending on the kind of project you want to achieve. It is meant for folks who already have some experience with a sewing machine and/or have already followed a beginner’s workshop.

• 6h paid upfront : 144€ (=24€/h)
• 12h paid upfront : 276€ (=23€/h)

Where do the lessons take place ?

They take place in my shared atelier at 13 rue Santeuil, 75005 Paris.

When can I book a spot ?

• Tuesdays from 5.30 to 9 pm
• Wednesdays from 5.30 to 9 pm
• Saturdays from 10 am to 1.30 pm and from 2.30 to 8 pm
• Sundays from 10 am to 1.30 pm and from 2.30 to 8 pm

Should I bring some fabric ?

There will be a fabric stash available for each project but you can also bring your own fabric. Write me an e-mail : studio@sadvalentine.com if you are having doubts about your choice or the measurements.
For a standard width of 140 com, you will need at least :
• 15 cm for a scrunchie and 35 cm for a drawstring pouch, in a light(ish) fabric like poplin, voile, gauze…
• 30 cm from one fabric for a bucket hat with two identical sides and 25 cm of one fabric and 25 of another for a bucket hat with two different sides, in a slightly thick fabric like furniture fabric, denim, deckchair fabric, twill…
• 35 cm for a top ranging from size 36 to size 42 and 78 cm for a top ranging from size 44 to 50, from a light(ish) fabric like poplin, satin, damask, batiste, gauze…
In any case, NO jersey fabric (elastic/knit). Except if your personal project is all about it, of course !
